A Level Instruments

Message from Richard Killen dated 02/10/2000

Words to the effect 'Karaoke would do, just learn the words and get a
backing tape'

(I deleted the original message sorry)

Hi All,

I hope you were joking Rich!

I did sense a slight tongue in cheek tone to your message but you may have
been serious.

I also did a voice recital for my A Level. Over the past few years U have
realised that that is where my talents are. Singers get a rough deal and I
know instrumentalists think singers are a bunch of freeloaders which breeze
throuigh university because they don't have to practice. Well...

Karaoke and backing tapes will not do! A properly prepared recital programme
with accompaniment or none if a folk song is more in keeping with the
syllabus.

I'm now an undergraduate and wrestled during my first on whether to study
singing of the Cornet. I love banding and am involved with loads of brass
stuff but like I said before I seem to have a nack for this singing lark.

And just for the record - I have to practice like crazy to improve and also
to keep the standard of my voice up. I challenge anyone who mocks singers to
try a lesson or two or maybe a masterclass and we'll see how easy it is!!!!

Yours - slightly annoyed but amused!
